These words reflect the agreements which bind Normlifers together. We champion meaningful exchanges. Constantly changing, we strive for understanding. Through interaction, we grow and adventure.
These laws are created by the Elections Official. You may read them here.
The first infringement of a law will come with a notification of there being laws and a request the laws be followed. Further infringement will come with a request of compliance and a warning of losing voting privilages; if the member does not have voting privilages, the member may lose posting abilities in certain sections.
The Co-Administrators and Administrator have the ability to edit user profiles, the ability to change user permissions, and the ability to terminate users. These abilities may be used on a member if the member refuses to follow the laws.
If a member constantly breaks laws, that member is eligible for banning.
To be banned, excessive forum abuse must be demonstrated, or a majority of forum members favors banning. The will of the majority may be found through polling; this can be overridden by the Administrator if he finds the banning to be unjust; Co-Administrators can override the Administrator in this situiation if they think the Administrator is abusing his power.
Only Normlife members registered as voters are elegible to vote. Voters have the following rights:
All open positions will be voted upon at the same time. The time will be decided by the Elections Official.
Election and proposition threads must be created in the Voting Forum by the Elections Official.
To propose, you must be a voter and post your idea in the proposition ideas thread.
For your proposition to be in the upcoming election, you must post it at least one week prior. If posted after, it will occur in the next election.
The Elections Official must create a thread in the voting forum for each new proposition at least one week before voting day. It must contain who proposed it and what it is.
On the date of voting, the Elections Officer must create a timed yes or no poll in the proposition thread. The poll must relate to the passing of the proposition.
The majority decision will take effect as soon as possible.
Election threads must be created two weeks before voting day.
To run for a position, you must state intent in the proper thread.
If you currently hold a position and want to run for a different one, you must abandon your current position before you run for a new position.
To “abandon” your position, you must say so when you post intent. You will be removed from position when the winner assumes the position.
The abandoned position should be refilled in the same election.
Intentions may be stated up to one before election day.
Nominations encourage a person to run for a position.
In the event that more than two people are running for a position, a primary will be held five days before election day.
On this day, the Elections Official must create a relevant, timed poll in the respective threads.
Voters must be able to select no more than their top two candidates in the poll.
The top two candidates will then run in election; if any one candidate wins a majority, that candidate wins the position.
On election day, the Elections Official must create a poll in the election thread containing the running candidates and an option for neither. There shall be a time limit of 1 day. The poll must query: “Who should hold this position?”
The majority decision will take effect as soon as possible.
Should no candidates run, elected officials shall decide whether to appoint someone or move the elections back at the recommendation of the Election Official.
Should one candidate run, the poll will contain options of the candidate and of none.
Should no candidate win a majority in the final election, elected officials may decide whether to rehold the election, or appoint the candidate with a plurality after hearing the recommendation of the elections official.
An official may be subject of impeachment only once per month.
A member may start impeachment only once per month.
If an official is removed, a special election for the position will be held. In the intervening time, the next highest official will assume power of the removed.
Only voters may start the impeachment process.
To start the impeachment process, there must be good reason, and the Elections Official must be contacted (or the official one position higher if the Elections Official is being impeached, or is not available) with who is being impeached.
Upon contact, the receiver must create a thread in the Normlife forum containing the following:
Good reason is four officials supporting the move to impeach; they must state so in this thread.
If the person moving for impeachment is an official, support must come from at least four other officials.
If impeachment is favored by the majority, a general review will be started.
If impeachment goes through, the official who created the impeachment thread must create a thread in the voting forum containing the following:
The poll must have at least 2/3 in favor of removal for the official to be removed.
No position holder may edit and delete posts based on personal vendettas. The basic job of a moderator is looking after forums under his or her moderation and act according to observations.
The moderator of each section may appoint helpers to moderate certain forums in his or her section.
